For handball fans, the International Handball Federations World Championship events every two years are one of the highlights. In 2025 this is particularly the case for handball loving fans from all over the world, as the Men’s Handball World Championship takes place in three countries for the very first time.

The three host countries connect different corners of Europe, making the slogan INSPIRED BY HANDBALL perfectly suited. Croatia, Denmark, and Norway are looking forward to welcoming handball fans to a world class event.
Five cities ready for the IHF Men’s Handball World Championship
The Championship will be played from 14 of January to 2 of February 2025 in five cities. Two preliminary rounds, one main round, two quarterfinals, one semifinal as well as the bronze medal match and the final will be played in Unity Arena outside of Oslo, Norway. While the final will be played on 2nd of February, the opening ceremony and the first match of the IHF Men’s Handball World Championship is scheduled for Herning, Denmark on 14th of January 2025. Two preliminary rounds and one main round will be played in Herning in Jyske Bank Boxen. Croatia will welcome the teams of the last four preliminary groups. Two groups will be played in Zagreb, one is set for Porec and one for Varazdin. Furthermore, one main round will be staged in Zagreb and one in Varazdin, before Zagreb will host one semifinal during the final weekend of the championship. The President’s Cup will be arranged in Porec.
The final in Oslo will be the first World Championship gold medal match in Norway since the women's tournament in 1999, and it will be a great honor to welcome the world's best handball players to Oslo. Denmark can begin the defense of the IHF Men’s Handball World Championship-trophy on home ground. The championship will be the seventh in the Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning, where the atmosphere is always electric. Confidently, the three big handball nations will offer unforgettable experiences for the 32 national teams and handball enthusiasts worldwide, whether they attend the event in the host cities and arenas or follow it on television and virtual world.
